The Story Behind Our Bestseller: The Mahlako Pleated Dress

Hey everyone, welcome back to our blog!

Today, we want to take you on a journey and tell you the story behind one of our bestsellers - the Mahlako Pleated Dress. This dress is more than just a beautiful garment, it's a heartfelt tribute to our co-founder and a unique reinvention of the traditional sepedi pleated yele dress. We've blended our own creativity and style to create a modern and sophisticated garment that honors our cultural heritage while remaining relevant and fashionable today.

After careful consideration, we're thrilled to announce that we've introduced Three Cats printed 100% cotton fabric to our collection! This fabric is trusted brand manufactured from locally grown cotton. We've hand-selected two vibrant print colours, blue and pink, to create a statement piece that truly embodies the essence of the dress. The result is a breathtaking garment that not only looks and feels luxurious, but also represents our commitment to sourcing the best materials for our customers.

But that's not all - we also made some design changes to the dress to make it more modern and versatile. Firstly, we removed the puff sleeves that were originally on the traditional sepedi pleated yele dress. Instead, we opted for pleated cap sleeves that create a sleek and modern look.

Secondly, we added piping to accentuate the details of our bodice. This not only adds a beautiful touch to the dress, but it also highlights the craftsmanship that goes into making each piece. We believe that the little details are what make a garment truly special.

Lastly, we added lace to the skirt of the dress, adding a feminine touch to the garment. The old and new versions of the dress worn by Prof. Mamokgethi and Tshwerelo

Overall, these design changes have made the Mahlako Pleated Dress a modern and unique take on the traditional sepedi pleated yele dress. We believe that it's important to pay homage to our roots and culture, while also infusing our own style and creativity into our designs.

Thank you for joining us on this journey and learning about the story and design process behind the Mahlako Pleated Dress. We hope you're just as excited as we are about this beautiful garment.

And make sure to stay tuned for more exciting updates from our brand.

With love, Team Medu
